| The Period of Central Soviet Areas was an important stage of the CPC’s partial ruling before the founding of PRC. In those ten years, the CPC was engaged in military affairs in southern Jiangxi and western Fujian. It resorted to the practice of blueprints and illustrations, which had previously stayed at the theoretical level. Many of the creations became the basis for further development in the later Yan’an Period and after the founding of PRC, including military sports. Military sports effectively integrated military and sports aspects. It could not only be an important part of the army’s daily training, but also be presented in the form of competitions to entertain the public, enhance the physical fitness of soldiers, and enhance the combat capability of the army. Although the conditions of military sports in the Period of Central Soviet Areas were difficult and crude, they were highly valued by the Party Central Committee, the Soviet Area Government and the Red Army, which gave them great support, achieved good results, left valuable experience, and were warmly welcomed by the Red Army officers and soldiers. |
